Al,
____glad to hear your thoughts on the combination of the Innersound amp used with the Maggies 20.0...as i pointed out many times here at SLOG before, i have nothing but praise for the Innersound amp i purchased two years ago to power my Sound Lab A-1's.
i am not going to repeat again the complete lack of strain presented through this "dynamic-duo" combination when playing music, the unbelievable tautness of bass notes, the crystal-clear midrange and treble that seems to go on and on "ad infinitum"....no, that is unecessary at this point ; however, what really surprised me when i first powered up the "combo" was the fact that i could crank up the volume and reach measured peaks of 105dBs in my room without any apparent strain to either the amp or the speakers !!!
as you noticed, after awhile the heat sinks do become quite hot, as well as the metal case which also becomes uncomfortable to the touch, but when you are playing music at such loudness levels and using such "inefficient" speakers, i guess that is to be expected !!...also, i must point out that not once during these crazy listening marathons of mine has the Innersound amp ever shut-off or exhibited any untoward behavior : they seem to be built like a rock that never flinches at anything thrown at them.
....and, you know what : after awhile i really became used to that "soothing" front panel blue light as i see it as being a constant reminder of one of my "best-buys" in audio/video equipment !!!!
thanks for re-confirming my exact impressions of the Innersound amp,
regards, Marcos
