Remember that when you are comparing Wolcotts to AS MA1s, there is a significant difference in power output. The MA2 is more comparable to the Wolcott in terms of power. (I'm sure you know that.) Also, the AS amps (either one) will really do a whole lot better if the SL speakers have the "high impedance" backplate config and even better yet IMO if you use the Zero autoformers. But though the Zeros are optional, without the backplate mod, it's not even fair; the MA1s probably won't compare to the Wolcott on M2s or M1s. You might ask Duke's opinion about Wolcotts vs AS, if you cannot actually go to NO to have a listen. I believe he has both MA2s and Wolcotts on hand to drive M1s, and I don't think he has a strong favorite. But for the AS amplifiers, the SL speaker has got to have the backplate mod (with added inductor). Then it is a match made in heaven (albeit a heaven where the SLs can marry twice, to AS or to Wolcotts).
