In fact, I doubt I could hit 100 dB even with the distortion without rapidly tripping the Wolcotts thermal protection. Not only is there overt break-up around 90, there is a hardening of textures that makes venturing above the mid 80s a dry, strained and joyless listening experience. It's as if I am indeed the owner of the world biggest full range minimonitors. I sit 6 feet from these things and can't get the sound loud enough to drown out an ernest conversation when I want to, nevermind achieve lifelike amplitudes.
My only question for you would be what happens with a digital front end through the Aesthetix? If there is no system gain issue with the Calisto and a digital front end, then there must indeed be something wrong with my panels.
