I assume that you have tried another appropriate amplifier to eliminate the amp as the source of the problem.
I don't know what front end you have but given that the sensitivity of the Wolcott's is only 1.5V, unless you have a passive preamp and run about 700 feet of high resistance interconnect cable there's no way the amp won't output full power levels (I also assume you've used another source to eliminate your existing source as a problem)
I also noticed that you recommend modifying the back plate. If you've modified your back plate I'm sure you've already checked that as a potential problem but would it be possible to configure the back plate to its original specification?
Beyond that, why are you not sending these speakers in to Sound Lab? It sound like you're just going in circles and I know it would wear me out.

You guys are uniquely enthusiastic in your praise for the sound of Sound Lab and I've had a great conversation with Albert. Can't help but noticing, though, the similarity with old Triump TR6 owners.
