Joe, have you checked out the bias voltage supplies?

Low bias voltage could seriously compromise the efficiency of the speakers and give the result you are getting, but it would seem highly unlikely that BOTH bias supplies would be similarly on the fritz. Are you getting equally low volume from both channels? Can you tell whether the speakers are breaking up at 90 db or whether the amps are running into high distortion at that sound pressure level? Substituting another pair of (high power) amps will tell you the answer.
